The Bachelor Finale

I've always had a love-hate relationship with watching the Bachelor and Bachelorette. Every new season I work so hard to manipulate our lives so that we're busy the opening night...and every week that I can manage it. To tell you the truth, this is the only way I can see to keep my husband from turning it on. Yes, that's right--he's the instigator, not me. But it doesn't matter how many episodes we've "conveniently" missed at the beginning, it always ends up coming on at some point and then we never miss an episode from there.

It was a whole new experience this time for me because I knew who was going to win from the first episode I started watching because my inpatient husband sought out the spoilers from the get go. I thought knowing the outcome would help me not get as attached to the show and it sort of did I guess. But I think what kept me coming back this season was finding out if Catherine was good enough for Sean. I think Sean is a really good guy and I hope it all works out for him because I can see that they are so happy together. It's just hard for me to see that she has the same faith in God and values that he does. And that I think is what keeps a relationship together despite all the struggles you face together which is why I think a lot of the relationships on the Bachelor and Bachelorette don't last. So I hope it's the case and she's not just faking whatever she says she believes for his sake. And the only reason I would say that is because it seemed so rare on the other seasons for there to be faith-based people and then all of a sudden this season there are a handfuls of them? I don't get it.

I think there is a lot of value in seeing faithful people like Sean and his family on TV just as a reminder that there are still great people in this world that may not share our exact values but are good examples of righteousness in a wicked world. Other than the fact that they seem to be drinking ALL THE TIME and I don't know how they keep it together on camera, I think it was a pretty good season overall and I hope they get married right away and start having babies!
